Gemotions

The news felt like a physical blow. He stood in the middle of the campus courtyard, the letter clutched in his trembling hand. A wave of nausea rolled over him. He felt as though someone had punched him in the stomach. He saw a nearby fountain, water spraying into the air, and wanted to smash it to pieces. He pictured the administrators, their smug faces, their smooth pronouncements. He wanted to confront them, to scream his fury into their faces. Instead, he just stood there, immobile, a statue of thwarted rage.
