The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows on the walls of the small, cluttered room. Elias stared at the framed photo on his desk: his son, Leo, beaming back at him. Leo's face, now reflecting a new kind of faith, had become a puzzle Elias couldn't solve. The information felt so difficult to process, like trying to decipher an unknown language.

He picked up a well-worn book, its pages filled with notes and underlined passages. He tried to focus, but his thoughts kept drifting, returning to Leo, to the changes, to the uncertainties. The familiar comfort of reading couldn't reach him this time.
