It was a beautiful day, the sun shining brightly, the sky a clear blue. Even the card felt bright. Yet, as she looked at it, she was overwhelmed by an overwhelming sense of... emptiness. She was not sure why, but the generic message of "Happy Birthday!" felt insincere, like a whisper in a deafening silence.

She felt like she was trapped in a perpetual state of standstill. The card sat on the table, a paper reminder of the passage of time. The familiar comfort of her home suddenly felt constricting, the walls closing in. She went to the window, watching the world move on, while she remained stationary.
