The silence in the new house was deafening. It was a modern, minimalist structure, all clean lines and vast open spaces. For Daniel, the starkness mirrored his own internal landscape. He'd tried to embrace the change, but the feeling of being untethered, floating, had remained. He’d spent his days staring out the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the world go by.

One evening, while attempting to organize the utility closet, he bumped into the back wall. A section of the wall felt hollow. After some maneuvering, he uncovered a hidden door, a narrow passage leading into a small room. It contained a single, antique music box. He wound it up, and the tinkling melody filled the air, a beautiful, haunting tune that he felt deep in his bones.
