Gemotions

The scent of coffee, usually invigorating, now seemed to have no power. I sat at the kitchen table, the newspaper spread before me, but the words swam and blurred. Across the room, Jason was engrossed in his work, the click-clack of his keyboard a relentless soundtrack to the quiet despair that had settled over me. I wanted a companion, a small dog to join me in my solitude, to try and lift my spirits. Jason had shut me down, stating concerns about noise and mess.

I sighed, the air thick with unspoken disappointment. The apartment felt suffocating, each corner echoing with my unspoken desires. The world outside the window seemed impossibly far away.

I rested my head in my hands, the silence pressing down on me. Even the thought of food seemed like a struggle. The weight in my chest was constant, a heavy, unwelcome guest. I slowly looked up, my vision blurring.
