The park felt like a trap. Liam, the person she'd been texting every night for the past year was smiling at her from the other side of the park. It was him, wearing the same terrible Hawaiian shirt he’d teased her about endlessly.

Her breath hitched. She felt every inch of her skin prickle. She’d shared everything with him: her deepest fears, her most embarrassing moments. Now, she was standing here in the flesh, a walking embodiment of all her insecurities.

She pretended to study the distant clouds, anything to escape his gaze. The world began to spin a little. He knew far too much.
