He’d left the phone on the coffee table. Sarah had seen the unknown caller ID flash a few times, but hadn't thought anything of it. Now, curiosity overriding her better judgment, she found herself staring at the screen. One missed call, then another. The pit of her stomach sank. She picked up the phone, a prickling sensation spreading across her skin.

She felt like she was trespassing. The air in the room grew heavy, oppressive. A sudden, almost uncontrollable urge to run, to escape the suffocating weight of suspicion, seized her. She felt sick, utterly and completely lost. She didn’t know what she was searching for, but the anticipation was destroying her.
