He gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles were white. Across from him, Emily was cheerfully retelling the story of their disastrous camping trip. She described the downpour, the soggy marshmallows, and his utter inability to assemble the tent. His memory was different. He recalled being a capable outdoorsman, patiently guiding her through the process. He swallowed hard, a lump forming in his throat. He looked out the window, avoiding her gaze, wishing he could rewind time, or at least the conversation.
