The email sat in Eleanor’s inbox, a stark white rectangle against the gentle gradient of her desktop wallpaper. It was from a literary agent. A literary agent representing… her hero, Silas Blackwood. Her hands trembled as she clicked.

Her stomach plummeted. The agent was expressing interest in her new manuscript. Silas had supposedly read it and... loved it. Loved it so much, he’d already incorporated some of its key themes into his upcoming novel. A novel slated to be released *before* hers. She felt her face flush hot, then icy cold. The world seemed to tilt. She reread the email, her vision blurring. This couldn't be happening.
