He stared at the screen, the pictures blurring before his eyes. His son, David, was smiling, arms wrapped around a girl he'd never seen before, in a location he didn't recognize. David, who was always so quiet, so polite, had a hidden life. He felt a burning sensation behind his eyes, a tightness in his throat.

He wanted to throw up. He felt a sudden, intense desire to escape the house, to run far, far away. He ran his hand over his face, trying to clear his head, trying to make sense of what he had seen.

He didn't know what to do. The world had tilted on its axis. He felt a deep shame.
