Gemotions

The talent show was in full swing. He'd only come to support his friend, but then the announcer called out the next performer and the first notes of "Lost and Found" - his song - filled the auditorium. He felt a wave of cold wash over him, followed by a sudden, inexplicable heat.

He shrank back in his chair, suddenly desperate to be swallowed by the dark. The kid on stage was butchering it, singing the lyrics with a forced, empty smile. He wanted to cover his ears, to scream for it to stop, but instead he just sat there, rigid, as each off-key note grated against his soul.
