A wave of dizziness washed over her. The acquisition announcement, delivered during the mandatory all-hands call, was a complete shock. She’d spent the last five years building her career here, working her way up from intern to team lead.

She felt a stinging sensation behind her eyes. Tears threatened to spill, but she fought them back, clenching her jaw. She didn't want anyone to see her this way.
