Gemotions

The claustrophobia was setting in. He'd never noticed how close their office was to the service elevator. She knew she should be making conversation, but she was finding it difficult to even breathe properly. Trapped with him, she was reliving the disastrous office Christmas party and the dance floor incident. Her face felt hot, and she didn't dare meet his gaze.

The silence grew heavy, a physical weight pressing down on her. Every time his arm brushed hers, she jumped. She just wanted the ground to open up and swallow her.

"Well," he began, and she braced herself for whatever observation might come. "At least we have each other for company, right?"

She mumbled an affirmative, her voice barely above a whisper.
