Gemotions

"I... I don't understand," stammered David to the woman at the front desk, his voice a tremor. The notice, clutched tightly in his fist, felt as heavy as lead. He felt exposed, stripped bare. Everyone in the lobby seemed to be staring, their gazes like tiny needles pricking his skin.

He wished he could teleport himself away, anywhere, to escape the suffocating weight of this moment. He longed to sink into the floor, to be invisible. He just wanted to be alone with his shame and figure out what he was going to do.
