The safe. He'd never noticed the safe before, concealed behind a painting in the master bedroom. Inside, stacked neatly, were bundles of cash. Ethan felt a creeping unease, a wave of sickness that threatened to overwhelm him. He needed to sit down. He sat on the bed feeling frozen.

His wife, Chloe, returned home to find him there, pale and silent. He couldn’t look at her.

"What's wrong, honey?" she asked, her voice laced with concern. He pointed a trembling finger towards the now-open safe.

Chloe’s face fell. She looked utterly defeated, as if she'd been caught red-handed.
