The crumpled, coffee-stained paper felt like a live thing in Amelia's trembling hands. It was propped against the salt shaker on the kitchen counter, where she’d found it. Liam's handwriting, bold and looping, listed things like "Learn to Surf," "See the Northern Lights," and... "Get a Tattoo." She hadn't even known he *wanted* a tattoo. A blush crept up her neck as she scrolled further down the list. "Kiss someone in the rain." Well, that was just… awkward.

Her stomach churned. She cleared her throat, suddenly aware of the ticking clock on the microwave. The bacon he’d cooked was starting to smell a bit burnt. She quickly flipped the strips, her movements jerky and hurried, as if the food was somehow responsible for her current predicament.
