The quiet of the archery range amplified the absurdity of the situation. Kai, known for his precision as a right-handed archer, was now being told to shoot left-handed. The news had left him reeling.

“Kai, we want you to try shooting with your left hand,” Coach Tanaka had said, his voice even. Kai’s gaze darted around the range, at the targets, at the other archers. Everything felt suddenly askew.

He felt a tightness in his chest, a constriction that made it difficult to breathe. His right arm, his dominant arm, felt suddenly heavy, useless. He swallowed hard.

“But… I’ve always shot right-handed,” he finally murmured, the words barely a whisper. The coach just nodded. Kai felt as though the ground had been swept from beneath his feet.
