The roar of the crowd, the crack of the bat – it all felt distant, surreal. Jackson, the team’s catcher, was being moved to first base. Coach Henderson had issued the verdict.

“Jackson, we need you at first base,” the coach stated, his voice ringing across the diamond. Jackson stood frozen, the familiar ache in his knees forgotten. First base? He, the team's defensive cornerstone, the protector of home plate.

He stared at his mitt, its leather worn and familiar. It felt heavy, a burden. He felt a sudden, overwhelming sense of being lost. He couldn't shake the feeling of disassociation.

"But… I'm the catcher," he finally said, his voice a low growl. The coach just gestured towards the infield. Jackson felt like a stranger in a familiar landscape.
