Gemotions

The sheer happiness radiating from the bride and groom was almost overwhelming. It was infectious. Almost. Until *he* walked in. The color drained from her face. She felt a sudden, inexplicable sense of disorientation. The music seemed to fade.

She had to get away. She needed a moment to collect herself. She excused herself from the table, making a beeline for the restrooms, the tiled floor a cold comfort. She splashed water on her face, but it did little to quell the internal turmoil.

When she emerged, she found him standing in the hallway, his back to her. He turned. Their eyes met. He looked… unchanged. That was both a relief and a disappointment. The silence hung heavy between them, punctuated only by the faint music from the reception.
