He didn’t know how to explain the prickly sensation that ran up his spine. Seeing "Mr. Davies" on his son's first-grade classroom door felt like an illusion. He'd long ago forgotten the details of the man. But it still left him unsettled.

He stood outside the door, his heart thumping in his chest. A sudden wave of memories washed over him. He wasn't sure what to expect from this teacher. Would he be as stern as he had been? Or had time softened him? His son, Max, turned to him, his eyes shining with anticipation.

He swallowed hard. He felt a profound sense of unease, a feeling like he was standing on the edge of a precipice, unsure of what lay ahead. Max tugged at his hand. With a deep breath, he managed a weak smile and followed him into the classroom.
