Gemotions

The thought of Mrs. Carter, his daughter's new kindergarten teacher, sent a jolt of alarm through John. He'd always known there was a chance of this happening. But seeing the name on the door, so familiar, so unsettling, solidified a disturbing feeling. He struggled to understand the situation.

He felt like his past and present had collided. He had to be strong. He had to be calm. He took a few deep breaths, his hand instinctively reaching for his pocket. He wasn't sure how he'd feel when he walked back out of the school.

He watched his daughter, Lily, skip into the classroom. He smiled, trying to appear normal, but his insides were churning. He had to get used to the feeling of time swirling around him. The hallway blurred, and he found himself staring at the door long after Lily had disappeared inside.
