The air in the coach's office felt stale and heavy. David sat opposite him, his hands clasped tightly in his lap. He'd replayed the conversation a dozen times in his head, but it made no sense. "We went with a different strategy," the coach had said vaguely, his eyes avoiding contact. The words hung in the air, ambiguous and frustrating. He felt a coldness spread through him, a chilling certainty that something important was missing, something he couldn't grasp. The framed photographs on the wall seemed to mock him, showcasing past victories he wouldn’t be a part of.
