He’d driven to The Golden Spoon every Tuesday for the last fifteen years. It was a ritual. The same booth, the same waitress (Brenda, with the perpetually tired smile), the same perfect pot roast. Now, looking at the hastily scrawled note taped to the door, a knot formed in his stomach. “Closed Permanently.”

His fingers traced the rough edges of the paper. He didn't understand. The Spoon was always packed. Lines snaked out the door on weekends. What had happened? He pushed open the door, but it was locked. He rattled the handle, then pounded. Silence.

He backed away, the afternoon sun suddenly too bright. He felt a dizzying pressure in his head, a disconnect from reality. The street looked different. The familiar rhythm of the city felt… wrong. Where was his routine? Who made the pot roast now?
