Gemotions

The dim light of the library cast long shadows as David traced the lines of the aged book's cover. He'd settled in with the new purchase: a biography of a long-dead explorer. A small, sealed envelope fell from the pages as he opened it. His brow furrowed.

He pried it open and pulled out a single photograph. It showed a man standing in front of a vast, unfamiliar landscape. On the back, in faint, careful lettering, were the words, "He knows." A wave of unease washed over him. The air seemed to thicken with a silent tension. What did it mean? He felt a sudden, inexplicable sense of urgency.
