Gemotions

He pulled the invitation from his mailbox, the paper crinkling slightly in his grip. He squinted at the familiar name of the high school. He hadn’t thought of it in so long. He frowned, a crease forming between his eyebrows. It was a surprise, but also… perplexing. He held the letter at arm's length, as if trying to understand it from a distance.

He glanced up and down the street, suddenly self-conscious. The street seemed to shift, the houses around him becoming unfamiliar. He tucked the invitation into his pocket, his hand lingering there for a moment. He walked into his house, leaving the bright sun behind.
