A coldness settled in Maya's stomach as she read the letter. The university, with its grand architecture and hallowed halls, now seemed to mock her. The words were simple, factual: "Incorrect recipient." Her name, however, was clearly printed in the letter. It felt like she'd been holding her breath since she had received the notice. Her hands, usually steady when she was dissecting a frog in her lab coat, were trembling. She re-read the paragraph and the words just didn't make sense. She gripped the cold metal of her desk. This couldn't be happening.
