Liam paced his cramped apartment, the worn rug a familiar comfort beneath his feet. He had received a phone call. A very brief, very confusing phone call. It started friendly. Then got more pointed. Now he couldn't stop the feeling of being turned around. His scholarship, the reason he'd taken the gamble and moved across the country, was… gone? His tuition? His rent? He ran a hand over his tired face. This entire situation had flipped the world on its head. He kept muttering under his breath, "This isn't right. This can't be happening."
