The antique shop was her obsession. Sarah loved the hunt, the thrill of discovering forgotten treasures. That’s how she found the photograph. A sepia-toned image of her great-aunt Eleanor, posed with a man in a pilot’s uniform.

Eleanor was famously, and solely, known for her devotion to the church. A pious woman, her life was one of unwavering faith. The man in the picture… he held her hand. They gazed at each other with an intimacy that was startling.

Sarah felt a chill ripple through her. She clutched the photo tightly, her breath catching in her throat. She replayed conversations she’d had with relatives. No one ever mentioned a man. This couldn’t be right. Her fingers trembled as she held the image up to the light.
