Gemotions

“Unbelievable,” I finally managed to croak, staring at the destruction. The sycamore had landed right on their gazebo, which had been built just last summer. I knew it, I helped them. I felt a strange churning in my stomach, like a boat on rough water.

The air felt thick, difficult to breathe. I took a step, then another, drawn toward the wreckage. I circled it slowly, my eyes darting everywhere, searching for a sign, anything. The silence was deafening. My brain felt like it was struggling to catch up.
