Gemotions

The pine, Mrs. Davies' centerpiece, was gone. Just a raw, empty space where it used to be. The sun seemed brighter now, too bright, almost accusing. I felt a strange buzzing in my ears, a high-pitched whine that seemed to intensify with each passing second.

I looked at the neighbors, gathered in a loose cluster, their faces etched with the same bewildered expressions. We were all strangers, united by this sudden, inexplicable event. I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out. My throat felt constricted, like it was closing in on itself.
