From the moment the letter arrived, I was walking through a dream. I read the words, and they made no sense. This school? Closing? I looked at my reflection in the window of the bus, and I didn’t recognize myself.

The campus, usually vibrant and alive, had a strange, hollow feel to it. Students clustered in small groups, whispering and gesturing. The air crackled with a tension I couldn’t name. I walked towards the library and saw the notice board. The news had been printed in huge, bold letters. Suddenly, I felt as if the ground beneath my feet was about to disappear.
