The old house creaked and groaned around him, a constant reminder of its age and the secrets it might be hiding. David found himself in the study, a space he’d hoped would provide solace. Instead, he felt a strange sense of unease. He'd been going over the blueprints, looking for the original floor plans.

He traced a line on the wall with his finger. There was a slight indentation, almost imperceptible. He tapped the spot with his knuckle. It sounded hollow. His pulse quickened. The air felt heavy, pressing down on him.

He pushed on the wall, and it swung open, revealing a small, dark room. He had the distinct impression that he was being watched.
