The digital glow reflected in her wide eyes as she looked at the feed. Her cheeks felt hot, and a strange tightness constricted her chest. She had a feeling of being betrayed. Her son, Ben, was not who she thought he was.

She kept scrolling, each post a new revelation. She found herself clutching at the edge of the desk, as if for support. The comments, the interactions, the entire online persona, was so foreign that she felt like she was reading about a stranger.

She felt a hollowness inside, a sensation like all the air had been sucked out of the room. She shut the laptop with a snap, and the silence felt oppressive. She took a shaky breath, the world starting to spin.
