The notification popped up: "Mr. Henderson started following you." Sarah's breath hitched. She scrolled through his profile, a pit forming in her stomach. He’d liked a picture of her dressed up for a Halloween party, a photo she’d actually considered deleting. She chewed on her lip, a habit she thought she'd broken years ago, as the palms of her hands started to sweat. This felt… off.

She glanced at the clock. It was almost time for her English class with him. The words on her screen blurred as she replayed every interaction she’d ever had with Mr. Henderson, analyzing them for some hidden meaning. Her backpack felt suddenly heavy.

The bell rang. She stood up a little too quickly, her chair scraping loudly against the floor. As she walked to class, she kept her gaze fixed on the ground, avoiding eye contact with anyone. She hated the way her stomach was churning.
