The bustling marketplace amplified the pounding in Maya's ears. She had just texted her ex-boyfriend, Daniel, a flirtatious message intended for her current boyfriend, Ben. The message read "Thinking of you, can't wait to see you later ;)"

She felt a hot flush creep up her neck. Her palms were slick with perspiration. The vendors' calls and the chatter of the crowd seemed to fade. She was afraid to look at her phone again.

She imagined Ben seeing the message, his expression shifting from amusement to confusion to, perhaps, fury. She envisioned the scene, the argument. It was a complete disaster. She closed her eyes, wishing she could rewind time.
