The phone rang, jolting Emily out of her seat. She answered it, trying to keep her voice steady, but it wavered slightly. "Yes, this is she," she replied, her heart hammering against her ribs.

It was HR, confirming her interview time. She hung up the phone, her hands trembling. She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself, but her thoughts raced. Had she prepared enough?
