John couldn't eat his breakfast. He'd tried, but the toast sat on his plate, untouched. A knot formed in his stomach, and he could barely swallow. The interview was this afternoon. The thought alone was enough to make him feel agitated.

He re-read the job description one last time, hoping to memorize every aspect. The words swam before his eyes. He poured himself some coffee, but the dark liquid did nothing to soothe his internal turmoil.

He kept pacing around his apartment, unable to settle. His wife, noticing his behavior, asked him if he was okay. He just gave a small shrug, unable to express the feeling.
