Gemotions

The air in the airport seemed thick with frustration, mirroring the feeling in Ben's chest. Delayed. His flight to Berlin, and his grandfather's funeral, was pushed back. He felt a lump form in his throat, a dull ache that spread through his body. He’d hoped to be there, to pay his final respects.

He leaned against a window, watching the rain streak down the glass. He recalled the stories his grandfather used to tell, tales of war and resilience, of a life lived fully. He could practically hear his voice.

He closed his eyes, picturing his grandfather's kind face, the twinkle in his eyes. He missed him so much. He felt the sting of regret for all the times he hadn't visited, hadn't called.
