Gemotions

The dog, a small Jack Russell terrier, was busy sniffing out his prize tomatoes, its nose twitching. He stood on his porch, hands in his pockets, and watched. He used to have a dog of his own, a similar breed, full of the same boundless energy. He used to spend hours playing in the woods with that dog.

He took a deep breath, the scent of the tomatoes mixing with the late summer air. The sound of children's laughter, coming from the nearby park, drifted over to him. He remembered those carefree days when his biggest worry was finishing his homework. He missed that feeling of being carefree.
