Gemotions

The incessant barking of the beagle was a familiar soundtrack. It was usually accompanied by the familiar rhythm of the dog digging through the flowers. He remembered the summer days of his youth, and how his family would get together. The dog's energy was contagious, and it brought back the memories of his childhood.

He closed his eyes, recalling the scent of his mother's perfume, the sound of his grandfather's laughter. He remembered the feeling of security and love. He felt a deep ache within him, a longing for something he couldn't quite name. “Just a little longer, boy,” he said under his breath, watching the beagle.
