The smell of old paper and dust filled Maya's nostrils as she cleared out her parents' old storage unit. She'd been putting it off for months, but the lease was up, and she had no choice. It seemed like the ghosts of her childhood would be revealed in this mess.

She picked up a box overflowing with photographs. She'd heard countless stories of her father's "responsible" youth, the boy who always did the right thing. The top photo showed him in a leather jacket, leaning against a motorcycle, a mischievous grin on his face. This was a side of her father she'd never witnessed.

Another picture depicted him in a band, clutching a guitar, stage lights illuminating his face. The caption, scrawled in her mother’s handwriting, read, "Your dad, the rockstar." Maya felt a smile tug at her lips. The image in front of her presented a very different picture than the one she was familiar with.
