He walked into the lobby, the smell of burnt toast and old newspapers a potent reminder of Saturday mornings. Now, the glossy brochure in his hand, promised "Luxury Living!" and a "State-of-the-Art Fitness Center." He felt a tightness in his chest.

The elevator doors opened, and he stepped inside, the familiar hum of the machinery a lullaby he had grown accustomed to. He could almost feel the presence of the ghosts of tenants past, all sharing this space, all going up to their apartments.

Later that evening, he started sorting through his record collection, each album a portal to another time. The crackle of vinyl, the imperfect sound quality, the feeling of the music, filled the apartment. He put on his favorite album from college. He remembered nights spent with friends in this apartment, and it suddenly felt like he was back in that moment again.
