Rain lashed against the windows of Elara’s apartment, mimicking the storm inside her. She slammed the book, “Elara Vance: A Life Unfiltered,” down on the polished mahogany table. The glossy cover, plastered with a smiling picture of her from a college graduation, seemed to taunt her. A reporter, some woman named Davies, had written a goddamn biography about her. Without her permission. Without her *knowledge*.

Elara marched into the kitchen, a familiar tightness clawing at her chest. She grabbed a bottle of scotch and a glass, pouring a generous measure. “Unfiltered,” indeed. The audacity of it! Every time she considered the thought, her jaw clenched so hard she thought she'd shatter her molars.

Returning to the living room, she ripped the book open and began tearing out pages. The lies, the half-truths, the opinions disguised as facts… it was infuriating. She would not be defined by someone else's narrative. She wouldn't let it stand. A defiant grin pulled at her lips.
