The dim light of the storage unit barely illuminated the cluttered space. Emily ran a hand through her hair, her patience already wearing thin. Her father had asked her to go through her mother's things. She was not going to.

She opened a box marked “Memories.” She’d rather not. Inside was a collection of school assignments. She picked up one, a book report on Jane Eyre. She started to skim, a flicker of interest momentarily captured. She didn't have time for this. She slammed the lid on the box. She had other things to do. She wasn't going to do this.
