Rain lashed against the windows as Daniel examined the wallet. The interior held a substantial amount of money, a sum that could wipe away the crushing financial pressures he faced. He found it near the train station.

He considered the possibility of using it to pay off his loans, to get ahead. The thought of relief was fleeting. He saw the face of the banker, his smug grin, the condescending advice he'd offered.

He felt a surge of defiance. He walked outside, the rain soaking his clothes. He'd never let them win. He wasn’t looking for their help. He would show them he could do things on his own.
