The memo was plastered on every wall, in every breakroom, and even on the elevator doors. The large, bold letters screamed the truth: "Important Announcement Regarding the Future of [Company Name]." It was unavoidable. But that didn't mean Sarah had to read it.

She marched past the posters, her back stiff, her gaze fixed resolutely forward. The hallways, usually vibrant and alive with the chatter of coworkers, were now filled with murmuring and worried glances. Sarah ignored them all. She tightened her grip on the handle of her briefcase and walked into her office.

Her phone rang, a persistent, demanding blare. Sarah let it go to voicemail. She wasn't answering anything, talking to anyone, or reading any important notices. She would simply continue with her tasks. No interruptions. She would keep working, as though nothing had changed.
