The aroma of freshly brewed coffee did little to soothe the tension in John's office. He stared at the printout on his desk, then at the man sitting opposite him, Mark. Both of them were tasked with the creation of the same software application.

John’s initial reaction was disbelief, quickly followed by anger. He had invested weeks of planning and coding, a project he saw as his own.

His gaze was fixed, unwavering. "I've already gone through all the user stories," he said flatly. "I understand what the customer needs."

Mark started to suggest, but John cut him off. He was not interested in a discussion. His gaze was stern. He just wanted Mark to go away.
