Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the Hindu temple, the smell of incense, the chanting – it was all so foreign, so jarring. His sister, Jessica, had been so excited to share her newfound faith, but he found himself unable to participate, to understand. He shifted uncomfortably on the floor.

He watched her, a smile plastered on her face, as she bowed and offered flowers to the deities. He felt a sharp pang of something he couldn't name. The warmth of the room seemed to suffocate him.

He had always believed in the importance of family, of shared experiences. Now, it felt as though she had shut him out. He followed her outside, the fresh air a welcome relief. He took a deep breath, fighting the urge to tell her how much this hurt.
