Gemotions

The band was playing loudly in the bar. James was telling the story of how he scored them their first gig. He claimed he'd been the one who convinced the venue owner to take a chance on them. She felt a knot in her stomach.

She had done the legwork. She was the one who had spent weeks calling, emailing, and pleading with local bars. He was always the one who took the glory. She took a long gulp of her beer, the liquid doing little to calm the fire in her cheeks.

She looked at her bandmate. He was laughing, the sound grating. The music felt too loud.
