The sunlight streaming through the window seemed to highlight every imperfection in the room. Chloe noticed the subtle shift in the position of her journal, a book she treasured. A coldness settled in her bones, a feeling of being exposed. Her roommate, Jessica, was in the shower, the water running loudly.
